Ecuador Challenge for Shelter

Ecuador Challenge for Shelter

In November 2023, I will be heading to Ecuador to trek 5 days towards one of the highest active volcanoes in the world!
During this high-altitude adventure, I will be hiking long days across varied terrain in unpredictable mountain weather. I’ll be camping in a tent and going without cell service, electricity, bathroom facilities and other comforts of home. This trek will not be easy but it will be immensely worthwhile. Each step I take and every dollar I raise will support courageous women and children in my community who are seeking safety and hope for a life free from abuse. My fundraising efforts go towards our local shelter, Kingston Interval House.

This will be my third trek with the Shelter Foundation. In 2019, I completed the Sahara Hike and in 2021, the Purcells Mountain Challenge. We slept in cold and wet conditions in individual tents after gruelling long days of trekking. Both treks were life changing experiences. The amount raised collectively was the most rewarding part of our journey.

Did you know that on any given day in Canada, an estimated 362,000 children witness or experience family violence.
On any given day in Canada, more than 3,600 women (along with their 2,200 children) are forced to sleep in an emergency shelter to escape domestic violence.

I want to help support these courageous women and children walk safely and bravely away from violence.
Will you join me in making a difference?
