Kingston

Kingston is the largest municipality in southeastern Ontario and Ontario’s 10th largest metropolitan area. Affectionately known as the “Limestone City”, it boasts many heritage homes built with local limestone. Located on the eastern end of Lake Ontario, at the beginning of the St. Lawrence River and at the mouth of the Cataraqui River, the city is midway between Toronto and Montreal and is located near the Thousand Islands tourist region to the east and Prince Edward County to the west.

History

Kingston was the first capital of Canada and while its time as a capital city was short (under 3 years), the community has remained an important military installation. The city is a regional center of education and health care and home to Queen’s University, the Royal Military College, and St. Lawrence College along with three major hospitals. Notable Kingstonians include Canada’s first Prime Minister Sir John A Macdonald, Gord Downie from the Tragically Hip, Don Cherry, Sarah Harmer, and Dan Akroyd to name a few.

Real Estate Options

Kingston’s enticing mix of Downtown living, West-end amenities, rural living, and varying architecture are sure to impress. The selection of homes offered range from new builds to century homes and waterfront condos.
