Just off Wolfe Island, close to both Kingston and Amherst Island, Simcoe Island consists predominantly of farmland and cottages. Named after a British army general and first lieutenant governor of Upper Canada John Graves Simcoe, the island is known for having the smallest cable-ferry service in the province as well as being home to the oldest active lighthouse (Nine Mile Point) on the Great Lakes.
